How much does a website cost in Costa Rica?
The short answer: from ₡100,000 to several million, and it is almost never arbitrary. The difference is what is being sold and who does it.
When someone asks how much a website costs, they are really asking three things: what will I pay, what will I get and what happens afterwards. If the answer is only a number, the conversation will end badly.
The three ranges you see in the market
In Costa Rica, what is charged for a website almost always falls into one of these groups. Prices are references and change with who does the work and how custom it is.
| Range | What you get | Where it usually fails |
|---|---|---|
| ₡50,000 – ₡150,000 | A template with the business texts and photos, sometimes domain and hosting included. | It looks fine, but nobody checks titles, speed or indexing. Often it never shows up on Google. |
| ₡150,000 – ₡600,000 | Custom design, several sections or pages, technical SEO and measurement. | Depends on the provider. Ask who does the SEO and how it is verified. |
| ₡600,000 and up | Stores, portals with users, integrations with existing systems. | Price guarantees nothing without a written scope and one accountable person. |
What a ₡100,000 page includes
Our Essential page costs ₡100,000 and is a single page with the business information. That sounds small, but a well-made page has real work behind it:
- Organized content: what you sell, to whom, how to contact you and why you should be chosen.
- Titles and descriptions: the text that appears on Google. One per page, not the template default.
- Structured data: the markup that tells Google there is a business, where it is and what it offers.
- Sitemap, robots and Search Console: the site is registered, the map is submitted and indexing is reviewed.
- Analytics: visits and WhatsApp clicks, to know whether the page brings anything or just exists.
- Three months of changes: a freshly published site always needs text, photo or price adjustments.
What makes a project more expensive
- Number of pages with original content. Ten written, thought-out pages cost more than one page with ten sections.
- Photos and video. If they must be produced, that is separate work.
- Online store. Catalog, variants, payments, shipping and training so the owner can update prices.
- Integrations. Connecting invoicing, a CRM or a payment gateway adds hours and testing.
- Content that does not exist. When nobody has the texts or photos, someone has to write or produce them.
Questions to ask before paying
- Who writes the texts and who approves them?
- Whose name is the domain under?
- What if I want a change in six months? How much does it cost?
- Is the site registered in Search Console and Bing, or just published?
- Can I see visits and WhatsApp clicks, or only a visit counter?
- What if the provider disappears? Do I get access and files?
Why cheap ends up expensive
A ₡60,000 page that never appears on Google is not a cheap page: it is an expense. The business pays twice, first for the page and then to fix or rebuild it.
That said, there is no need to overpay. A restaurant that only needs a menu, hours and location does not require a portal with users. The right question is not “how much does a website cost” but “how much does the page this business needs cost so people find it and contact it”.
What we do
We publish the base price because it saves time on both sides. If your case does not fit ₡100,000, we say so before starting and quote separately. And if what you have can be fixed, we say that too, even if it means not selling a new page.
